1. Samsung Galaxy S7
I use my Samsung Galaxy S7 (and my iPhone 6) as my primary device for work purposes. I love both phones and have used both extensively over the years with no issues. Samsung is a great brand and I'm not saying anything bad about them at all. However, they make some really good phones - definitely worth checking out if you're considering buying one.
2. Blackberry Priv
This is basically the same phone as the Galaxy S7, except it's black instead of silver. It looks very similar and runs pretty much exactly the same OS as well. If you want something different then go with this one.
3. Google Pixel XL
Google does great hardware these days. This is a larger version of their Nexus line of devices, which was discontinued in 2014. It's bigger than the Note 4/S6 duo, and has a 5.5-inch screen compared to the Note 4/S5 duo's display size of 5.7 inches. It's got a Snapdragon 821 processor, which is faster than the Note 4's Snapdragon 820 CPU. Battery life is awesome, and it comes with either 32 GB or 128 GB of storage space. You'll need the former if you plan on storing lots of music, videos, etc., while having the latter if you just want to store apps and games.
4. LG G5
The LG G5 is a solid mid-range smartphone, especially with its price tag. It doesn't have the best camera, but it has a beautiful OLED display and super fast performance. It can last you a long time between charges, depending on what you do with it.
5. Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro
Z2 Pro is the successor to the Moto X Style and was announced in September 2016. At first glance, it looks almost identical to the Moto X Style, but there are a few differences. First off, it's got a metal frame instead of plastic. Second, there's only one front-facing speaker and the headphone jack is gone. Third, the fingerprint sensor is now located on the back of the device, underneath the camera lens. Finally, the Moto logo is gone and replaced with Lenovo branding. Overall, though, I think this device looks a lot cooler than the original Moto X Style.
6. Sony Xperia XA Ultra
Sony makes some decent smartphones that aren't too expensive, but I don't know how many people actually buy them. While they look nice, they rarely have any outstanding features. The Xperia XA Ultra is no exception. It's got a metal body and a small display, but it still costs $300, which is pretty steep for a handset on par with the Moto G5 Plus.
7. Mi Mix 2
After seeing the success of Xiaomi's Mi MIX 1S, which had a stunning white ceramic back plate and design, Xiaomi decided to give us another Mi MIX model, and this time around it's coming with a huge notch. But, the real standout feature of the Mi Mix 2 is the fact that it has dual front facing speakers. While it may sound cool, the truth is that we've seen this tech before; it's already been implemented in a few smartphones. In fact, there are even several smartphones out right now with dual front-facing speakers. But, none of those smartphones are nearly as attractive as the Mi Mix 2.
